SOUTH OF MONTELIMAR
A part of the German 19th Army retreat streaming north from the Riviera was stopped south of Montelimar easily targeted by mortar fire from the 3rd Infantry Division. The wreckage of destroyed vehicles, dead soldiers littered the roadway in the aftermath with over 340 vehicles destroyed. The Germans pressed to their cause all vehicles available including touring sedans, public transports, and horse-drawn carts.
