LE COLOMBIER – GRIGNAN
The 3rd Reconnaissance Troop contacted the 36th Division near Nyons on August 25. The 30th Regiment's 2nd Battalion cleared an enemy concentration at Grignan on the 27th. This road juncture, in a series of switchbacks, is 10 driving kilometers southeast of Montelimar. Highway D4 was an alternate route to Montelimar for the 3rd Division that entered from the east. The wire tower has been toppled and the billowing smoke is in the direction of Highway 7 north of Montelimar where the German convoy was under artillery attack on the 27th and 28th.
