NEUF BRISACH
Troops of the 30th Regiment's 1st Batallion guard the Porte de Bale entrance to the east of Neuf Brisach. The fortress at Neuf Brisach was built in 1472 and was destroyed in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War by the Germans. The fortress city was built to withstand a siege — with the German retreat it wasn't necessary.
