COLMAR
In Colmar, the surrounded German defenders surrendered to the 28th Infantry Division and lead French armor units advancing from the south on Feb. 8, 1945. The Colmar action for the 3rd Division tallied 4,000 prisoners, inflicted 7,500 enemy casualties and destroyed three German divisions while mauling two more. This view is easterly on the rue des Clefs along one of Colmar's old trolley lines. The building on the left where the jeep is parked is Colmar's Hotel de Ville.
