DERBIERE
Horses lie lifeless by a cart they tried to haul out of Montelimar for the German army. The battle raged in this area where the 36th Division struggled to keep the road blocked on August 26. The main German combat units fighting for control on the Highway 7 corridor north of Montelimar through Derbiere and La Couccurde were the 11th Panzer Division; the 198th and 24th divisions; the 63rd Luftwaffe Training Regiment; and battle groups Hax and Wilde.
