SOUTH OF MONTELIMAR
All three 3rd Division regiments were active in the attack on Montelimar as they linked with elements of the 36th Division's 141st Regiment in seizing the town on August 28 and 29. German strength was shifting north, yet at one time, the German's defense was three divisions along with the veteran 11th Panzer Division. The approach to Montelimar for the 3rd Division was slowed by roadblocks, mines, booby traps, felled trees and destroyed bridges.
