URSCHENHEIM
A muddy path, cleared of debris winds through the ruins of Urschenheim after its fall to the 15th Regiment on Jan. 30, 1945. By the end of January, the region's snow thawed and ice gave way to mud and rain on the Colmar battlefields. The 3rd Division's last act in the Colmar Pocket, would be closing the pincher at Neuf Brisach and cutting off the German supply route into Colmar.
