JEBSHEIM
Assault boats protected by mortar emplacements in Jebsheim are readied for the 15th Regiment crossing of the Colmar Canal. Soldiers crossed the canal Jan. 29-30 in an operation called "Kraut Buster". The division captured six towns in the eight hours following the crossing with help from an initial 16,000-shell artillery barrage.
