SALZBURG - PARSCH - NEW PALESTINE
The post war New Palestine Displaced Persons Camp in Parsch is seen in the background with the former Graf Lodron Laterano Primogenitur Palace lower right. This permanent DP camp was administered by UNRRA (United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration). There were three permanent and five transient displaced persons camps in the American sector in Salzburg. At one point 2,000 persons entered the DP area daily. The palace was the Salzburg Archdiocese's high school – Collegium Borromaum – from 1879-1910. In 1939 it became the Nazi Educational Institution Kreuzberg and then returned to a boarding school in 1946 until 2006.
