FIELD MARSHALL ALEXANDER
Field Marshall Sir Harold Alexander served in Burma before being attached to the British campaign in North Africa. He later commanded the invasion of Sicily in 1943 as well as commanding Gen. Mark Clark and Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery during the drive up the Italian mainland. The Maj. General closest to the camera is Lyman Louis Lemnitzer, Alexander's chief of staff from the AFHQ Mediterranean Command who later commanded NATO in Europe.
