MUNICH
Munich's famed Marienplatz Rathaus with its Glockenspiel and the Frauenkirche to the left survived the devastating bombing during the war. Fighting by the 3rd Division in Munich was described as "weird" with crowds of flower-throwing jubilation on some avenues and fierce, futile fighting by the Volksturm and 14-16 year-old Hitler Youth armed with deadly Panzerfaust on another.
