BAD KISSINGEN
On April 6, a 30th Regiment patrol met a delegation outside Bad Kissingen surrendering the city and its 28 large resorts being used as hospitals. The two vehicle bridges over the Saale River were destroyed by enemy demolition teams before the city could be entered in force. The town escaped bombing due to the hospitals being marked with a red cross. In this image is the Staatsbad resort on the west side of the river. Bad Kissingen dates to the year 801 and is renowned for its mineral springs.
