BAMBERG
The 3rd Division's 15th Regiment reached Bamberg, another German hospital town, on April 13, 1945 less than 24-hours after crossing the Main River. The 15th Regiment's 2nd Battalion entered the city after slight resistance. Over 1,000 prisoners with several officers including the city's commander were processed in Bamberg. Many of the captured weapons were turned against the German army in upcoming battles. The sign left of center reads "Military Govt".
