AUGSBURG
Augsburg, population 200,000, was surrendered on April 28 by Stad Commandant Brigadier Gen. Fehn. Fehn was pressured by the Freedom Party, an underground anti-Nazi group, that thwarted his desire to capitulate "honorably" "with a fight". The 15th Regiment organized for the 200,000 garrison troops to surrender in small groups before Fehn (seen here) was taken prisoner. After the surrender, the 15th remained in Augsburg as the 7th and the 30th moved on Munich.
