AUGSBURG
The 7th and 15th regiments fought through Augsburg west of the Danube River. Augsburg, 37 miles west of Munich, was a main center for diesel engine production during the war. Augsburg and the nearby Messerschmidt factory were bombed three times beginning in 1942.
