CLEURIE QUARRY
The German's fortified positions at the Cleurie Quarry controlled the entire region blocking the 3rd Division's advanced northerly from Remiremont taken by the 36th Division. The approaches to the quarry were over steep cliffs against stiff resistance. The 15th Regiment was totally committed in the fight for Cleurie that it distinguishes it as its toughest battle of the war.
