FAUCOGNEY
Photographers Jack Cole and Bill Heller pose with the tools of their trade on a warm September day in Faucogney, France. Faucogney was abandoned by the Germans after a failed counterattack at Raddon. By Sept. 20, nearly five weeks after the southern France landings, 300,000 Allied troops had crossed the beaches into France.
