NUREMBERG

Just after noon on April 17, after overruning 50 German "88s" the previous night, the 15th Regiment was the first to enter Nuremberg. Heavily bombed during the war, Nuremberg was second to Dresden for the man-made destruction it endured. This view into Alt Nuremberg from the Laufer Torturm looking west, shows the Laufer Schlagturm just left of center. The church to the left is St. Lorenz; right of center is St. Sebald and St. Egidien. The cleared avenue is Aussere Laufer Gasse.
