AUDIE MURPHY MEDAL CEREMONY

Lieutenant Audie Murphy of B Company, 15th Regiment, 3rd Division. Murphy received the Medal of Honor and the Legion of Merit on June 2, 1945 in front of his entire division in Salzburg, Austria. Murphy became known as the most decorated soldier in the U.S. Army and went on to be a major American film star before his death in 1971. There were five 3rd Division soldiers p resented with the Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star at this ceremony. All soldiers, including Murphy, were congratulated by General Patch, O'Daniel and a group of attending U.S. senators.
