SALZBURG - SCHLOSS KLESSHEIM
The palatial Schloss Klessheim served as 3rd Division headquarters during its occupation duties in Salzburg. Hitler used Klessheim as a base for his presence in Bavaria, he hoped to take the Allied surrender there. Built in 1700 for the Archbishop of Salzburg, the "castle" is now a casino and recreation area.
