The celebrations after V.E. day are legendary. In Salzburg at Schloss Klessheim, war correspondents Seymour Korman of the Chicago Tribune and Jack Bell of the Chicago Daily News hold up a pair of "liberated" pajama bottoms that had once adorned the abundant Hermann Goring who was with Hitler the day of the Munich Beer Hall Putsch in 1923 and later led the failed Luftwaffe targeting of Great Britain.
