OBERSALZBURG - May 5, 1945
The windows facing out from the Berghof dining room at Obersalzburg shows the effects of the British bombing and the SS-set fire. One of the R.A.F. bombs hit just outside the bay seen through the windows here and the front entrance behind and to the left of the photographer's vantage. Further down this east wing was a direct hit. The soldiers of the 7th Regiment arrived at the Berghof on May 4 before withdrawing to Berchtesgaden. The regiment returned the next morning on May 5 for a flag raising ceremony. This image was captured May 5, 1944 by the 3rd Signal Co.
