WORMS
A 155 mm howitzer led by an M5 high-speed tractor in support of the 3rd Division crosses the completed pontoon bridge at Worms. The shattered columns of the destroyed Nibelungenbrucke stood silent witness to the building of the bridge and the advance of the American Army into the Rhineland. It was in Worms in 1521 where the Catholic Church denounced Martin Luther as an outlaw in what is known as the "Edict of Worms".
