BOBENHEIM-SANDHOFEN
The 540th Engineer Combat Group operated two heavy pontoon ferries and two infantry support ferries on the Rhine River on March 26, 1945 between Sandhofen and Worms under heavy chemical fog. The rafts were used to ferry men, supplies, and vehicles like these jeeps with 1/4-ton trailers to support the assault.
