NUREMBERG ZEPPELINFELD
April 24, 1945
In symbolic castration, the Hakenkreuz over Nuremberg's Zeppelintribune was demolished by American army engineers on April 24. Nuremberg was a shrine for the Nazi Party and was bitterly and senselessly defended by fanatical German troops and civilians until it fell to the American 3rd Division on April 20, 1945.
