COGOLIN
A naval officer is hailed at Cogolin on August 16, 1944. The town, a part of the 3rd's landing objectives, was reached at 1415 hours on D-Day by Company K of the 30th's 3rd Battalion. By noon of August 16, lead elements of the 3rd Division were 20 miles inland.
