REMIREMONT
At a medal ceremony at VI Corps HQ in Remiremont on Oct. 25, 1944, VI Corps commanders are commended for their action in southern France. From the left: Maj. Gen. John E. Dahlquist of the 36th Infantry Division "The Texas Division"; Maj. Gen. William W. Eagles of the 45th Infantry Division "Thunderbirds"; Maj. Gen. John H. "Iron Mike" O'Daniel of the 3rd Infantry Division; Brig. Gen. Bayr, commander of VI Corps artillery; and an unknown Brig. General. A total of 59 decorations were awarded.
