LONS-LE-SAUNIER
As if untouched by the war raging around them, two women pose in traditional Alscace costume — complete with silk bow headdress — in Lons-le-Saunier on September 4, 1944. The 700-seat theater in the background was built in 1900 to replace one lost by fire. The city dates itself as a Roman spa town known for its salt baths.
