FORT OF MUTZIG
Sgt. Anair Wilfred distributes rations to Pvt. Robert Divine and Pvt Robert Morgenstern of the 30th Regiment, Company E near the Fort of Mutzig. The fort was defended by 200 Germans with machine guns and bazookas and had been bypassed as advancing elements of VI Corps pressed to Strasbourg and the Rhine River. This view is the same position seen in the previous photo.
