BOBENHEIM-SANDHOFEN
A group of jeeps with trailers traverse the treadways of the completed pontoon bridge on the Rhine at Sandhofen, Germany. By the end of the day on March 26, two bridges were completed and three divisions were on the east bank with an established bridgehead. By March 31, 1945, three Allied armies had completed crossings the Rhine River fulfilling the task of the previous year's failed Market Garden operation that had hoped to leap the Rhine and drive towards Berlin by the end of 1944.
