As the Third Army expanded its bridgehead near Oppenheim, Gen. Patch ordered XV Corps to cross the Rhine near Worms. At the 3rd Division HQ, XV Corps commander Gen. Wade Haislip and Seventh Army commander Gen. Patch join 3rd Division commander Gen. O'Daniel.
