ZWEIBRUCKEN
Fires burn in Zweibrucken as the German rear guard gave up the city to the advancing U.S. 3rd Division. Zweibrucken was a transportation center with ironworks, steelworks, and factories producing leather goods, wood products, machines, and textiles. The city was almost completely destroyed in WWII. This photo was taken from the Kreuzberg Kaserne on a hilltop north of Zweibrucken.
