BEYOND MONTELIMAR
A closer look at the line of prisoners from the previous photo. The Seventh Army battle at Montelimar at the end of August 1944 was horrific but decisive as it dealt a deadly blow to the German 19th Army that it would not recover from. German units operating in the area included the 338th, 198th, 716th and 244th infantry divisions; the 189th and 148th Reserve Divisions; the 63rd Luftwaffe Training Regiment, and the 11th Panzer Division.
