SOUTH OF MONTELIMAR
The 15th Regiment troops advanced into violent combat and incessant counterattacks as they approached Montelimar. The 7th Regiment entered Montelimar from the southeast on August 28 after a day long battle where three battalions of the 7th and 30th regiments crossed a small river to the east during the morning. On its approach to Montelimar the 3rd Division mauled part of the convoy, seen burning in the distance, destroying 340 vehicles and taking 500 prisoners.
