DACHAU

News of Dachau's liberation spread swiftly. A delegation of journalists and congressmen viewing Buchenwald concentration camp were quickly diverted to Dachau to see the camp delivering a report to Congress on May 15, 1945. No investigation or official documentation was made regarding the post liberation executions at Dachau and General Patton in command of the Bavaria occupation, made it so. A declassified 1991 war department document verified that many were massacred by horrified and angered U.S. troops and at least 20 were killed
as vengeance by inmates.
