LOHR

Cpl. Eric Barker questions German prisoners in Lohr on April 4, 1945. At Rieneck to the north, the 15th Regiment's 3rd Battalion, led by Major John O'Connell, surprised the enemy while they where preparing defensive positions resulting in 85 killed. Other action north of Lohr included a one-hour fire fight against a cavalry training battalion and the 2nd Panzer Division committed as infantry at Haard. Nearby, the 15th's 3rd Battalion CP was attacked in an attempt to allow an artillery unit to pass through; after initially losing a TD, four jeeps and five men taken prisoner, the morning saw several enemy soldiers dead and 55 prisoners taken along with four horse-drawn, 155 mm howitzers.
