LOHR
Buildings and homes were reduced to twisted metal and smoking rubble in Lohr. Lohr saw heavy fighting when the 14th Armored Division passed through the 7th Regiment on April 3, 1945. The defenders, included SS sharpshooters, Sturmgeschutz self-propelled guns, and teenage Hitlerjugend armed with Panzerfausts. Several American tanks were lost as the 14th Armored approached the town.
