MARSEILLE
This Marseille bridge was destroyed in the fighting for the city. With the capture of Marseille on August 23, well ahead of a pre-invasion September 24 target, a supply route was secured for over one-third of the needs of the northern France operations prior to the opening of Antwerp in December.
