YELLOW BEACH - BAY OF PAMPELONNE
An M8 armored car named "Cast Iron" sporting a 37-mm cannon and .50 caliber machine gun rolls onto the beach at the Bay of Pampelonne. Ford and Chrysler developed the M8. More than 11,000 were used in Europe in support of infantry assaults.
