RED BEACH - BAY OF CAVALAIRE
The propellers of a duplex drive (DD) amphibious tank gets an inspection on Red Beach. The DD "swimming tank" was developed by Britain. The American version, nicknamed Donald Duck, was a modified M4 Sherman weighing 71,000 pounds and rigged with a flotation screen to allow operation in light surf during amphibious operations.
