AIX-EN-PROVENCE
American GIs ride an M-8 assault car passing the statues representing Arts and Sciences; and Industries and Arts where Cours Mirabeau joins the Place de la Rotunde in Aix-en-Provence on August 22, 1944. The scene is overlooked by the 1860 Fontaine de la Rotonde pointing the ways to Marseille, Avignon and Grenoble with its three figures representing justice, agriculture and fine arts.
