AIX-EN-PROVENCE

Enthusiasm for the liberation filled the streets of Aix-en-Provence. Marching north on the Rue Gaston de Saporta, a procession passes the "BYRRH" sign at 4 Rue Gaston de Saporta. Byrrh, created in 1866 by Pallade and Simon Violet is a wine-based aperitif of red wine, mistelle, and quinine marketed as a "hygienic drink".
