AIX-EN-PROVENCE
A position of the 441st Field Artillery Battalion fires towards Aix-en-Provence as VI Corps, under cautious orders from Gen. Patch, halts for supplies and fuel needed for its rapid advance. Anxious to seize the moment, Gen. Truscott persuades Patch to allow a forward action by the 36th Infantry Division 150 miles up the Rhone River Valley north of Montelimar.
