ROME - PIAZZA VENEZIA
The celebration in Rome on the 5th of June raged throughout the city's ancient streets. For the Italians the liberation was not only from Hitler's Nazi control but also from the 21 years spent under the fascist rule of Benito Mussolini who often addressed large crowds at the 15th-century Pallazo di Venezia from the balcony of the window shown here where he had his office since the 1930s and was often photographed.
