ANZIO BEACHHEAD
The Alban Hills can be seen in the distance beyond the marks of an Allied artillery attack on the German front line. One 3rd Division artillery barrage on Feb. 29 expended 66,000 shells prior to what would be the last concentrated German offensive executed in the first week of March.
