STRASBOURG

The main attack on Strasbourg came from the west and north as the 45th, 44th and 79th divisions with the French 2d Armored Division approached and entered the city on Nov. 23. Moving in from the south on Nov. 26, 3rd Division troops contacted French armor and assisted in the final surrender by clearing opposition in the southwest as the 1st Battalion of the 30th Regiment took positions along the Rhine.
