HEPPENHEIM
While the advancing Allied army moved further into Germany, these American soldiers found in Heppenheim, about 12 miles east of Worms, would most likely head home. The hospital was built in 1866 to serve as an insane asylum. During 1940-41, Jewish patients were assembled here on route to execution. Correspondents with the liberating forces called it the "Horror Hospital".
