BOBENHEIM-SANDHOFEN

Engineers cut through the embankment on the Rhine River near Sandhofen to allow two-and-a-half ton DUKWs easy access to the water. The land and water "Ducks" were used on the river to defend initial assault forces and secure the bridge sites.
