PONT-A-MOUSSON
Sgt. James P. Connor is awarded the Medal of Honor from Seventh Army commander Gen. Patch in Pont-a-Mousson. Connor was part of a 7th Regiment Battle Patrol that lost a third of its 36 men, including its C.O., before he led them, despite several wounds, to overcome a force of 47 Germans with three machine guns that threatened the assault on Red Beach Aug. 15, 1944.
