	ANZIO BEACHHEAD

The Germans had their own unique invention at Anzio: the "Goliath" track mine, seen here among overturned barrels. The Goliath was used on all fronts starting in 1942. The tracked vehicles carried explosives and were guided into position by remote control. Due to the flat terrain at Anzio, soldiers were able to explode these devices with concentrated small arms fire before they reached their targets.
